Where do I start?
Let’s determine whether HARPS applies to your business. HARPS applies to Direct Suppliers and Direct Sites, you’ll find the definitions for these below. If this applies to your business, you’re in scope!
As such, all growers/suppliers supplying product in final retail packaging, generic or otherwise, must be approved to HARPS.
In conjunction with table above, HARPS applies to:
- All vendors growing whole produce for retail sale
- All vendors packing whole produce for retail sale
- All distributors/brokers/agents supplying whole produce for retail sale
HARPS does not apply to further processed or value-added fruit and vegetables.
What are the Base Schemes I can choose from?
Why were these schemes selected?
What better way to promote our clean, green image to the world than to certify Australian suppliers with base schemes that are best in class. These standards in table above are GFSI benchmarked systems (*with the exception of the homegrown grower focused standard Freshcare, which is currently progressing toward GFSI benchmarking).
What is the GFSI?
Part of the Consumer Goods Forum, The Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) is a member driven, parity based industry network. GFSI provides thought leadership and guidance on food safety management systems necessary for safety along the supply chain.
